Life Fitness unveils new ParaBody GS4 Gym System and GS6 Gym System

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. – Jan. 27, 2003 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, today under its ParaBody brand introduced two new gym systems for home use – the GS4 Gym System and GS6 Gym System.

These two additions to the ParaBody line of strength-training equipment offer home exercisers exceptional exercise variety for efficient, effective, total-body workouts.

GS4 Gym System

The GS4 effectively allows users to perform a multitude of exercises in a compact (6 feet by 4 feet), single-station design.

The unit’s pressing station has seven different pressing angles, including flat, incline and shoulder press positions, and a self-adjusting extended arm pec fly. For balanced upper-body training, exercisers can conduct a rear deltoid exercise and a seated row at this station as well. In addition, the system is equipped with a leg extension/leg curl apparatus.

GS6 Gym System

The GS6 Gym System (8 feet by 4 feet) features a horizontal bench platform similar to benches found in health clubs, making movements and adjustments intuitive and allowing for advanced, versatile exercises. The bench can be placed in decline, flat, incline and shoulder press positions. The system’s Variable Arc press station enables chest, arm and shoulder muscles to be trained either through a traditional fixed path of motion or through a natural converging movement. For even more versatility, the press arms conveniently fold away allowing the bench to be used for dumbbell exercises.

The system is simple to adjust as well. The GS6’s remote press arm handle makes it easy to adjust the press arm start position when seated, and the Quick Flip lever allows for quick and easy adjustments from the leg extension and leg curl positions.

Ergonomic Design and More

The GS4 and GS6 are designed to ensure each movement mimics the body’s natural path of motion, resulting in a comfortable feel and eliminating unwanted pressure on the joints – a hallmark of the ParaBody brand. The handles used in pressing exercises are ergonomically angled to help reduce excessive wrist stress, and the seat pads are properly positioned for maximum support. The gyms’ durable, high-quality components ensure a solid, strong feel and provide safe workout environments.

Both gym systems have the unique V-groove mid-pulley technology that offers a greater range of motion and multitude of exercise movement variations. Standard GS4 and GS6 accessories include a revolving lat bar, revolving low row bar, an ab/triceps strap and an ankle strap. They also have 160-pound weight stacks that feature a stable headplate, which provides a smooth, gliding feel. In addition, a wall chart illustrating exercise starting and finishing positions for all major muscle groups is standard.

Users can enhance the gyms by adding a leg press/calf raise, a 50-pound weight stack and a weight stack shroud.

Warranty and Price

The GS4 and GS6 have lifetime warranties on the frames, welds and parts and three years on the pads and cables. Available now at authorized specialty fitness equipment dealers nationwide, the GS4 has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,699 and the GS6 is priced at $1,999. The leg press/calf raise and adapter kit retail for $539 and $59 respectively, the 50-pound weight stack is $59 and the shroud is $199.
