Life Fitness Academy and Human Kinetics team to offer continuing education courses online

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. – Aug. 4, 2003 – The Life Fitness Academy (LFA), the training, research and education arm of Life Fitness, has teamed with Human Kinetics, Champaign, Ill., a global leader in physical activity education, to offer Internet-based continuing education courses for fitness professionals and personal trainers. These online classes make it convenient for fitness professionals and personal trainers worldwide to take courses needed to prepare for or maintain certification in the American College of Sports Medicine, Cooper Institute, National Strength and Conditioning Association and other professional associations.

“Part of the LFA’s mission is to make continuing education as accessible as possible the world over,” said Julie Starkel, senior marketing manager, international, Life Fitness and the Life Fitness Academy. “Since these courses are available to anyone with Internet access, fitness professionals and personal trainers anywhere will find it easy to take classes they need for maintaining their certifications. These online classes are a great example of how we help address the education needs of health and fitness professionals throughout the world.”

This agreement makes available at the Life Fitness Web site the 28 current Human Kinetics online courses in fitness, training and rehabilitation, with other classes to be added in the future. Courses available now include Advanced Strength Training, Exercise Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. Prices range from $65 to $100. The number of continuing education credits or continuing education units given for each class is determined by the professional associations awarding them and is comparable to the credits given for on-site classes.
